Welcome to ERA W

Who are we?

We are Eva and Ara, the founders of Era W. Our passion for sports and healthy lifestyle made our paths cross in Zurich, where everything started.

We wanted to feel comfortable and empowered while training and we both agreed that something was missing in the market, we could not find the right apparel for us. That is when the idea kicked in.

We set ourselves with an important and challenging goal: to provide the perfect apparel to boost mind and soul, with a conscious and responsible approach to the environment and our community.

Where do we make the difference?

We carefully select materials considering the production process, recycling options, source of the yarn and impact on the environment. We put a lot of effort on selecting our partners and the materials we wanted to use focusing on biodegradable and biobased materials.

We believe in quality over quantity, we strive for greatness through the smallest details, we do not believe in perfection, but in precision. All our partners and processes are taking place in Europe and use renewable energy and 80% less water than with standard processes. We have an open and regular communication with all of them to ensure excellence and responsability and offer full transparency.
We want our community to know more about our sustainable materials and our production process. ERA W’s first pillar is responsibility, awareness and we are comminted with this. For this reason, we would like to introduce you today one of our materials from which our Core Sport Bra and Core leggings are made of.

What material do we use?

Our Core Sport Bra and Core Leggings are made with 100% recyclable, bio-based polyamide with a castor seed base.
Castor seed is a bio-based fiber made from the castor bean (Ricibus Communis). The plant itself grows in barren soil without requiring large amounts of water and without taking away arable land otherwise used for food.

What makes the Castor plant so special?

The Castor plant is very undemanding, low-maintenance and easy to cultivate. It grows on barren land and requires limited water. Its cultivation areas cannot be used for agriculture hence is not in competition with other products from the food sector.

A polymerization process is used to produce a polyamide fiber that consists of 100 % organic material. Small isolated molecules contained in the castorbeans, also known as monomers, are combined to form a polymer.

The advantage of the molecules in this plant is that they are already in the smallest form and do not have to be broken down further by chemical processes.

The key word is phytochemistry. In contrast to petroleum-based chemistry, phytochemistry only requires energy for synthesis.

How do we translate sustainability into comfort?

We have tested the material extensively on several ERA W women. The denser fabric brings support and perfect lift. Thebreathable, quick-drying, odor-resistant and naturally antibacterialstretch fabric ensures optimal freedom of movement and flexibility. In ERA W, Sustainability, Comfort, Quality and Perfomance meet.
